The importance of scanning and storing your old photographs
The importance of scanning your old photos should never be underestimated.
If your family is like mine, you probably have a book shelffull of old photo albums. Most of the time they just sit on the shelf and collectdust, but on occasion the family gets together and opens up the albums and itbrings back wonderful memories. In mostcases these are the only records we may have of very important times in ourlives; our wedding day, baby photos and pictures of the day our sons anddaughters were born, photographs of recently passed away relatives or those whomay have passed on long ago, images of yourself growing up, not to mention birthdays, anniversaries, vacations, school years, reunions, etc.... It would be a tragic shameif an event such as a fire, a flood or some other unforeseen disaster were toruin these visual memories forever.
Fortunately these days there are photo scanning companiesthat make protecting your memories very easy and inexpensive. One in particularthat I recently used is Photobin.com, a local San Diego photo scanning service. I was able to take all of my family's oldphotographs and send them to Photobin in a safe box and get them scanned andstored for a very reasonable price. Not only did they scan my photos, but they also offered photo restoration on a few damaged photos that we had andthey ended up looking like new.
I don't normally blog about services like this, but it wassuch a cool, simple process I wanted to tell as many people as possible.
